At 18 years old Mags Revell was working for the infamous Slater and Walker, headed by Terry “The Pill” Slater, putting up posters in the middle of the night, giving out flyers for other promoters and record labels. Mags, along with Cake founder Ben Jones, pioneered the guerrilla media movement with such client as Sony Playstation, Coca Cola, Radiohead, all record labels… the list goes on.

In 1994 Mags decided that rather than putting up posters for other people’s shows he was going to do his own shows and Mechanical Promotions was born. Fast forward five years and Mechanical’s roster included System of a Down, Einsterzende Neubaten, Lambchop, Entombed, Rammstein and No Doubt – all of a certain genre and impressive enough to be noticed by the three main UK promoting companies. Within this time Mags has also taken on the job as venue manager at the now legendary Astoria and Astoria 2, running Mechanical from their offices.

In 1999 Mags joined Metropolis Music, staying there until 2013 with a brief visit to the then Clear Channel Entertainment, now Live Nation. Bands he promoted during this chapter of his life included 50  Cent, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Slipknot, Pantera, Swedish House Mafia, Motley Crue and it was at this time that he also spotted in a dingy clubs The Enemy, The Fratellis, Hard-Fi, Florence and the Machine also instigating the reunion of legendary band The Specials.

In February 2013 Mags joined AEG Live, now AEG  Presents as Vice President of the UK office. As well as promoting The Who, Rod Stewart, Alice Cooper, Gorillaz, The Libertines, Rammstein, Bryson Tiller to name a few, he also took on the curation for the 2013 and 2014 BST line-ups changing the reputation of the festival from being a bit ‘meh’ to being an important date in every music lover’s calendar (and transforming the bottom line at the same time). In 2017 along with Damon Albarn Mags put on Demon Dayz, a one day festival in a 1950’s amusement park in Margate with headliners Gorillaz.

In 2018, after five years in this position Mags decided to strike out on his own, building a business promoting the bands he loves and also servicing a growing market of boutique events and festivals in interesting spaces. He founded Fifty Six Group which is based on independence and the fundamental belief in putting the artist and their creativity first.

Fifty Six Group specialise in one off bespoke events, consultancy and UK and European touring.
